Humorize Your Message

“To be happy in life, you must be able to take a joke.  And if you can leave a few, that’s even better.”  — Swami Beyondananda

Dear Friends:

I was having a conversation with my friend Jim Lauria, world water expert and mind-mapping guru, and he asked me a question that was so simple I hadn’t asked it myself:  What is it that you have “10,000 hours” experience doing, that is so second nature to you that you don’t even realize it’s a skill?

Duh … humor, of course.

Ever since that day in the lunchroom when I made another kid laugh so hard that milk came out of his nose, I’ve immersed myself in the art and science of comedy.  In more recent years, I’ve refined the type of comedy I do to “mind expanding” and “heart opening,” designed to bring people together and not only leave them laughing, but leave them smiling as well.

Over the years, I have taught these distinctions to health practitioners and business people, professional comedians and public speakers, and jest plain folks who want to bring more laughter and connection into their lives.  I’m still doing that, and I look forward to my next class with Shift Network beginning April Fools Day 2013 called “Achieving Cosmic Comic Consciousness.”

Of course, there are many people who have neither the time nor inclination to immerse themselves in the comic arts … and yet would love to benefit from the power that openhearted humor has to deliver or enhance a message.

So … I’m offering my skills as a conscious comic and crafty word-crafter to help you create a catchy message to catch the attention of potential clients and customers – and delight the ones you already have.

Would just the right flavoring of the right kind of humor, wordplay or phraseology tickle potential customers or clients, and expand your community?

If you’ve tried to do this yourself, and found yourself facing the blank page, muttering, “I am unwordy, I am unwordy, I am unwordy …” I can help you discover your own “wordiness” with words that playfully say what you want to say, and leave people chuckling, smiling and curious about what you have to offer.

If you’re the kind of person who’s really serious about what you do … maybe that’s the problem right there.  And if seriousness is the problem, humorousness jest might be the solution.
